Who I am
This site is run by Sharique Ahmad, an independent website designer in India. For any privacy question or request, email hello@sharique.co.in.
What this site collects
- Analytics (Statistics). Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, records which pages you visit, how far you scroll and which buttons you press, using cookies. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4.
- Session recordings. Microsoft Clarity records anonymised clicks, scrolling and mouse movement to show where the site is confusing. Text you type into forms is masked.
- Advertising. Google Ads remarketing and the Meta Pixel (for ads on Facebook and Instagram) may use cookies to show this site's ads to past visitors and to measure which ads lead to a booking. The Meta Pixel records the pages you visit here and when a booking is sent, and Meta may use a scrambled (hashed) version of the email you enter to match the visit to your Meta account. This only happens when Marketing is switched on in the cookie card.
- Forms. The contact form and the “Book your website” form send your name, contact details and message to my inbox, and a copy is kept privately on this site’s server so no request is lost.
- Monthly tip (newsletter). If you add your email to the "One tip a month" box, it is kept privately on this site's server and used only to send that email, at most once a month. Each email shows when it was opened and which links were clicked, so I know what is useful. Every email has an unsubscribe link that works at once.
- How you found this site. With a booking or an audit report request (and only then), the site also sends how you arrived: the ad or campaign tags in the link you opened, the website or app that sent you, the page you landed on, your answer to “How did you find me?”, your cookie choice, your time zone and whether you use a phone or a computer. I use it only to learn which ads and channels bring work, and it is kept with your request. It does not identify you on its own and is never sold or shared.
- Free site audit. The website address you enter is fetched by this site's server and sent to Google PageSpeed Insights and Google Safe Browsing to produce the report. To prevent abuse, the server keeps a one-way hash of your IP address with the times of your recent requests, and only counts the last hour.
- Audit report by email. If you ask for the full audit report or the fix offer, the email you enter, the address you audited, its score and its top issues are emailed to you and to me, and kept in a private file on this site's server so I can reply. I use them only to send your report and answer you. Ask me to delete them any time.
- Your browser. The site stores your cookie choice, the email you gave for the audit report (so you are not asked twice) and the timer for the letter feature in your browser's local storage; none of these are sent anywhere. When Statistics or Marketing is on, it also remembers for 30 days how you first found the site and how many times you visited, so a booking made on a later visit is credited to the right ad. That record is sent only with a booking or report request, and is deleted as soon as you switch both off.
Advertising and how to opt out
This site advertises on Google (Search, YouTube and partner sites) and on Facebook and Instagram. Third-party vendors, including Google and Meta, use cookies to show you this site's ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on those visits, and measure when an ad led to a booking (a booking reaching the thank-you page counts as a conversion). When you send a booking, Google Ads and Meta may receive a scrambled (hashed) copy of the email you entered, used only to match the conversion to an ad, not to contact you.
You can turn off personalised ads at any time in Google Ads Settings and your Meta ad preferences, or opt out of many vendors' personalised ads at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu. Switching Marketing off in the cookie card stops these cookies on this site. Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Your choice
On your first visit a cookie card lets you choose four groups: Necessary (always on; keeps the site working and remembers your choice), Preferences (remembers your settings), Statistics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) and Marketing (Google Ads and the Meta Pixel). In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Statistics and Marketing stay off until you switch them on. Elsewhere they start on, and you can switch them off. You can change your choice at any time with .
Your rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, the GDPR and similar laws, you can ask what data about you exists, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Email hello@sharique.co.in and I will reply within 30 days.
How long data is kept
Google Analytics data is kept for 14 months. Microsoft Clarity recordings are kept for 30 days. Google Ads and Meta handle advertising data under their own policies (Google, Meta). Booking requests, WhatsApp and email conversations are kept as long as we work together.
